It aims to inform people on the importance of the roles of librarians in every day life. - UPLSAA MIBF Talk: Librarians as Knowledge Managers in the Networked Knowledge Economy.
OCTOBER

UPSLIS Lecture Series. The continuing series of annual lectures sponsored by the
UPSLIS
consisting of topics of importance to the LIS profession. Past topics
were under general librarianship, archives and records management,
information and communications technlogy, law librarianship, medical
librarianship and many more.
NOVEMBER
UP BLC's:
Rock Night and Alter Lib. Rock Night commemorates BLC's anniversary by
showcasing the musical abilities of rising bands from different SLIS and
UP orgs. Alter Lib is an avenue to alter the way people perceive
libraries and information centers by encouraging others to realize new
and alternative ways of marketing library collections.

JANUARY
LIS Congress 2012. The LIS Congress, organized by
UPLISSA,
is envisioned to be a gathering that would allow students to learn
about the latest trend in their field and network with fellow students
from different schools and some of the country's leading information
professionals.
FEBRUARY

LibSpeak 2012. LibSpeak is an annual conference organized by
UP FLIPP
which aims to promote the librarianship profession and increase
awareness of the library's importance in the Information Age. This event
serves the UP FLIPP?s mission towards the promotion and development of
Library and Information Science (LIS).
MARCH

The Gabriel A. Bernardo Memorial Lecture Series is an annual event of the
UPSLIS in cooperation with the
UPLSAA.
Topics include issues, new practices, and other topics related to the practice of librarianship, library education, information science, and information systems and technology.
APRIL

To provide continuing education for practicing library and information professionals in the country, the
UPSLIS
offers the Summer Institute on Information Science and the Summer
Institute on Library and Information Services. Course topics cover all
aspects of LIS.
MAY
UPLSAA's
Red Carpet Extravaganza will celebrate the alma mater's 50th with a
bang! Don your gowns, barongs and suits for this once in a lifetime
event and join us for the Golden Grand Alumni Homecoming.
JUNE

The
UPSLIS
will have a 5-day book fair on June 2012 as part of the celebration of
the SLIS@50. Bookdealers, publishing houses and other interested parties
will be convened (venue to be announced later but most probably at the
UP Main Library) and have them display their collection to enable
librarians, faculty members and students to select and evaluate these
for their own collection development.
